The Mileage Company announces its first strategic partnership

In May 2009, The Times and The Sunday Times launched as The Mileage Company’s first strategic partner – with a 12 month contract with Airmiles, the UK’s leading travel rewards scheme, to promote annual seven day subscription to the two newspapers.

Customers who subscribe, seven days a week, will collect 750 Airmiles, enough for a free return flight or a Eurostar return to a selection of European destinations, including Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.  The flight or Eurostar ticket is 100% free – there are no airline taxes, fees or surcharges to pay.

The integrated campaign will run across both titles and includes editorial support as well as advertising in-paper and on Timesonline.  The partnership will be backed by a TV advertising campaign, from Thursday 7 May.

The annual subscription offer will feature on the Airmiles’ website for the year and will appear in many of its communications. The Times and The Sunday Times will have access to the Airmiles database of some 2 million members, through which Airmiles' will communicate this new collection opportunity.

Katie Vanneck, Managing Director, Customer Direct, News International, said: "This is the first TV advertising campaign for our fast-growing subscription scheme and I am delighted that Airmiles is our launch partner. This is an excellent long term partnership for us. It offers our readers, many of whom are passionate travellers, great added value."

Andrea Burchett, Director, Relationship Marketing and Insight, The Mileage Company, said"We’re very proud to be The Times and The Sunday Times chosen partner to meet their objective to drive subscriptions. The Mileage Company are experts at understanding what motivates people to make small changes in their everyday lives so they get something back for their money. Never before now in this tough economic climate has ’free stuff’ been more valuable to consumers. We’re looking forward to many more Airmiles’ members enjoying outstanding value travel rewards through this exciting new partnership."
