The Mileage Company, operators of the UK Avios rewards programme gains internationally recognised Green Globe certification
January 2012 – The Mileage Company, operators of the UK Avios travel rewards programme and shared rewards currency for British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus and Avios, has been awarded Green Globe certification, the worldwide certification label for sustainable operation and management of travel and tourism.
To receive this internationally recognised certification, The Mileage Company was assessed on a wide range of criteria including energy saving, waste management and effective management of resources such as paper and equipment usage.
The Mileage Company is the single largest provider of travel and leisure rewards under the Green Globe certification; and is the only company currently operating in the UK, to have achieved this standard.
The Green Globe Standard is a structured assessment of the sustainability performance of travel and tourism businesses and their supply chain partners. Green Globe Certification is a member of the Tourism Sustainability Council (new.gstcouncil.org) which is dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism around the world.
